Minimum Requirements
The eTrainingOnline.ca programs are 100% web-based. No additional hardware or software is required. Macromedia Flash programming means the programs will function on almost any computer system. However, to ensure smooth, trouble-free operation of the training programs and learning management system, the following are the minimum and recommended requirements:
Browser – Virtually, all recent Internet browsers will operate the system trouble-free. However, for smoother operations, the minimum recommended requirements are:
- Internet Explorer version 5.0 or higher (recommended)
- Netscape version 4.08 or higher
Internet Connection – Cable modem, DSL, T1 lines and similar Internet connections are recommended to achieve quick loading times with smooth transitions and operations of the system. The training system will operate with a slow dial-up Internet connection (56 k). However, this type of connection is not optimal and will result in longer loading times of the training topics.
Computer – Most computers will have the necessary amount of RAM, Hard Drive memory and CPU capacity to easily operate the training programs. However, a smooth display of the graphics and transmittal of the audio requires the following:
- Pentium II or higher
- 600x800 Resolution
- 64 MB RAM
- Windows 98/2000/XP/NT, Unix or Macintosh
- Sound Card and Speakers
Plug-In – Macromedia Flash, which is provided with most modern browsers, is the only software needed to operate the training programs. If you do not have this software or need an upgrade, it can be downloaded from the Internet at no cost. A direct link for this software can be found on our FAQ page. Also, an online User’s Guide is provided for the training administrator as well as the trainee. This is provided in a .pdf format and requires the use of Acrobat Reader. Requirements are:
- Macromedia Flash version 6.0 or higher
- Acrobat Reader version 5.0 or higher (User’s Guide only)
